Company update, October 2026
NextGen Gaming is a legacy brand of Light & Wonder, which was called Scientific Games until 2022, as the Light & Wonder Wikipedia article notes. The Light & Wonder iGaming site no longer lists NextGen as a separate studio. NextGen titles include Foxin' Wins.
LNW Sweden AB, which traded as NYX Interactive, surrendered its UK licence on 3 September 2024, according to the UK Gambling Commission register. Light & Wonder itself moved its share listing off Nasdaq in November 2025.

About NextGen Company
NextGen Gaming made online slots before it became part of Light & Wonder, and today it survives only as a back catalogue. For the studios that are still active, see our casino game providers page. Key information about NextGen Gaming:
| Feature | Details |
|---|---|
| Owner | Light & Wonder (legacy brand, not listed as a separate studio) |
| Main Activity | Game development |
| Popularity | Older titles are still offered at some online casinos |
| Products | Slots |
| Licenses | No NextGen licensee is listed. Light & Wonder companies hold MGA (LNW Gaming Malta Ltd, MGA/B2B/112/2004, in the MGA register) and UKGC licences. LNW Sweden AB (trading as NYX Interactive) surrendered its UKGC licence on 3 Sep 2024 |
| Notable Games | Foxin' Wins, Medusa, 300 Shields |
| Mobile Compatibility | Yes |
| Partnerships | Works with many online casinos and partners worldwide |
NextGen Classic Slots
NextGen's older slots are straightforward five-reel games with free spins and a few wild features, without the complex mechanics of newer studios. Foxin' Wins, with its fox family and free spins, is the best known. Older NextGen slots you may still find:
- Foxin' Wins;
- Medusa.
NextGen Video Slots
NextGen also made larger video slots with more paylines, scatters and bonus rounds. The Spartan-themed 300 Shields is the best known:
- 300 Shields.
NextGen Responsible Gaming
As a legacy brand, NextGen no longer runs its own responsible gaming programme. The tools that help you stay in control, such as deposit limits, session reminders and self-exclusion, are offered by the casino where you play. Use them before you start, and see our responsible gambling page if gambling is causing problems.
Conclusion
NextGen is a legacy slot brand within Light & Wonder. It no longer appears as a separate studio, but older titles such as Foxin' Wins and 300 Shields are still offered at some online casinos.
